An enterprising fellow John Deere collector makes these Steering Shaft Bushings for the John Deere Unstyled A Tractor, and what a great idea he has. This steering shaft bushing presses into the steering pedestal and acts as the lubricated bearing for the steering shaft. Long gone from John Deere inventory, you can now restore your loose steering shaft to its original design. This steering shaft bushing is made from oil impregnated maple, just like the original design, and it looks terrific left unpainted.
Replaces John Deere Part A936R
Installation of this bushing is straight forward with just a few hints for success. By removing the steering shaft bearing (AA1575R) you can paint this part separately and install the new bushing in the cast iron. After steering shaft is installed in tractor with steering wheel removed, clean any paint and debris from first 3 feet of steering shaft. Carefully slide the bearing and new bushing over the end of the steering shaft, then secure in place. Now paint the remainder of steering shaft and install steering wheel. |
