The dust cap fits between the distributor and the distributor cap. This important "filler" will seal out the weather and keep outside contaminants and moisture from reaching the points which are protected below this cap. If you are constantly replacing "points and condenser" it could be due to contamination going past the felt seal built into the dust cap.
